And how it differs from traditional Coaching and Therapy
Life Coaching is aimed at empowering you into transforming yourself, and your life, in a deeper and more practical way.
Designed to support you to improve your life, a Life Coach will empower you to find the answers to your own problems and encourage you to take aligned action toward your goals.
Life coaching is there to help you navigate challenges, crossroads, and transitional periods, support your personal development and aid you in improving your general well-being and life satisfaction.
While incorporating a mixture of counselling, talking therapy, mentoring, and consulting, Life Coaching is predominantly focused on improving the present, seeing meaningful results in your life, and building a better future for yourself.
Traditional Life Coaching is heavily goal-oriented, usually with a strong focus on practical life aspects such as health, fitness, relationships and career.
Spiritual Life Coaching is much like traditional Life Coaching, but with an additional spiritual element added in. It incorporates all the aspects of conventional Life Coaching – goal setting, life improvements, personal challenges – but is aimed at those with a belief in a Higher power, yet no deep affiliations with a specific organised religion.
Spiritual Life Coaches, although just as able to deal with the practical side of life, are additionally experienced with supporting clients with matters of a more spiritual nature, such as finding purpose, inner peace, Divine connection, gratitude, and wholehearted living.
Spiritual Life Coaching is about having the awareness that you are a Divine Soul and to help you transform deep unconscious patterns through varying spiritual practices. In addition to examining your behaviour, habits, and goals, we also explore your beliefs and deeper connection to the Divine.
Most Spiritual Life Coaches will also incorporate other spiritual practices into their coaching method depending on their particular gifts. For example, in my coaching sessions with you, I might use a combination of guided meditations and visualisation journeys, dance and movement, Reiki or general energy healing, Chakra work, Tarot or other Oracle cards, Soul Plans, and basic counselling, in addition to holding you as a pure and powerful Soul.
Spiritual Life Coaching is holistic in approach, consciously considering the human aspects of the person and their lives, while also taking into account the spiritual nature of all beings.
As Spiritual Life Coaching is a relatively new concept in the Western world, it’s equally important to discuss what it is not. This will help to avoid any confusion and ensure you get the appropriate support for your particular circumstances.
I believe it is imperative to note that Spiritual Life Coaching is not a replacement for psychiatric treatment, medical advice, legal advice, or financial management. These areas require individuals who are highly qualified in their respective fields and coaching is never an adequate substitute for such services.
Although Coaching is a very powerful practice, there are many occasions when an individual may be in need of more specialised mental health support such as counselling or psychotherapy (see below for the distinction between Coaching and Therapy).
Spiritual Life Coaching, although it deals with many aspects of the Divine, mystical and heavenly realms, is NOT a form of fortune telling, nor is it concrete direction that you must adhere to. Coaching is not a magic wand solution or miracle cure to all your problems and is no substitute for doing the deep work necessary.
Just like with most things in life, Life Coaching is not a one-size-fits-all approach. There are many different subject areas within the field of Coaching, therefore providing a more specialised approach depending on your specific needs.
You can find Coaches who focus on different areas such as love and relationships, money and business, health and fitness, or my particular niche, self-love and living a more purposeful life.
Life Coaching and therapy share many similarities, but it’s incredibly important to understand the difference in order to get the best support for you.
Therapy and counselling are normally there to support those with mild to severe mental health problems and trauma. Coaching is either aimed at those with mild to no mental health challenges, or for individuals who have done extensive amounts of traditional therapy and are now ready to embrace a more empowered and future-focussed approach.
Counselling and Therapy focus mainly on the past, delving into past experiences, past traumas, past feelings, and how they are now effecting you in the present. Life Coaching focuses heavily on the present and the future, building a life of fulfilment, while dipping into the past for insights.
Therapy is often used as a space to gain understanding and awareness of certain experiences and patterns of behaviour, while coaching is highly focused on growing the client’s toolbox so they are better able to lead themselves through challenging periods and achieve their goals.
Unfortunately, the Coaching industry is poorly regulated, unlike therapists who require extensive training, experience, qualifications, and official licenses in order to legally practice and offer mental health treatment. Therefore, when looking for a Life Coach yourself, it’s important to ensure they have adequate training and experience in the areas you wish to focus on.
As you might have experienced, the world of self-help and personal development is saturated with different methods and modalities to support your journey toward health and happiness.
This means it’s more important than ever to help people really understand what a service can offer, and to support you in discerning if it is the right place to invest your time, energy, and finances.
Spiritual Life Coaching is for you if you would like to transform yourself and your life in a deeper and more practical way, and would like to start seeing meaningful results in your life.
If you are sick of playing it small and are ready to improve your life, and do the deep work necessary to create true fulfillment. If you are tired of waiting around for a magic wand solution to all your problems and are ready to take back your power and hold yourself accountable.
Spiritual Life Coaching is for you if you want to step out of your comfort zone without compromising your happiness and integrity. And you would like to be empowered to find answers for yourself, make your own decisions, and are ready to do things differently.
If you would like to work with someone who uses a holistic approach and will consider both the practical and spiritual elements of life in order to bridge the gap between your current state of discontent and the life you were always destined for, then Spiritual Life Coaching could be just the medicine you have been looking for.
